All Natural Products
Posted on September 26th, 2009 No commentsPractical or Not?
The environment is a hot topic these days. You see and hear the ‘Green” word on television, radio, bill boards, news papers, it’s everywhere. When you actually stop to think about it, using all natural products makes sense. Why not, if it benefits us and the environment, sure I would use them. But the key issue is whether or not it’s practical.
When you shop for food, clothes, bath and body supplies, or even household cleaning products what are the most important factors in your buying decision? Two things come to mind; time and cost. First, which store is the most convenient that supplies the products you want. And second, among the product choices, which one has the best price based on quality.
The answer is obvious; most of the products available to us in a convenient location are not all-natural or earth friendly. Additionally, most of the time, when all-natural products are available the cost is higher. However, the availability of these products has improved a great deal and the internet provides a convenient method by which we can shop. As long as demand increases, we can all look forward to more all-natural choices at lower cost.
What’s the Benefit?
Going “green” provides two major benefits to our health and the environment.
It’s pretty simple to see that one effects the other. If we choose organic food, free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, then we are decreasing the poisons we ingest and provide ourselves a healthier diet. This allows our bodies to fight off decease more readily.
If we choose products that are earth friendly and decrease our demand for products which harm our environment. Gradually, we will decrease the pollutants in the atmosphere, the ground, and the water. So, as our environment becomes cleaner and pure, then if follows that our health will benefit as well.
To Summarize:
Today, it may not be completely practical to use all-natural products, however, with an increased public awareness leading to an increasing demand, we will see greater varieties at a lower cost. Additionally, with the growth of internet shopping, these products will become more convenient to purchase. If we buy and use products which are not harmful to ourselves and the environment, then our generation and future generations we benefit from a cleaner environment.

The Different Ways of Water Filtration
Posted on September 26th, 2009 No commentsTo lead a healthy life it is important that you eat and drink the purest form of everything. Especially, when it comes to drinking water you need to ensure that you have a water treatment system in place at home and work. It is very important to have access to safe and pure drinking water.
You must be aware that most of us get water which more often is infected with bacteria and parasites. If that is true you cannot afford to hold back on the idea of water purification. There could many occasions when you do not have access to water filters, like, if you are stuck in the wilderness or you live in that part of the world where you don’t get purified water. In such circumstances, the only option you will have is to purify the water yourself.
You need to go through the instructions given below to be able purify the water yourself:
* Use a clean container: To begin with the container used to store or hold water should be clean. Always use dish soap to clean the container and rinse it with water thoroughly. Then submerge it a liquid solution which includes one teaspoon of liquid chlorine bleach meant for household use. There are non scented liquid available in the market. After fifteen seconds rinse it thoroughly with another bleach mixture that is weaker.
* Clean Cloth to Filter Water: After mixing the liquid and allowing it to settle for another thirty minutes, you can filter the water through a clean cloth. You can either use a clean cotton cloth like a handkerchief or a silk. There are various other ways to achieve effective water filtration. For instance:
* Boiling: It is one of the easiest and the most common ways of water purification. You need to bring the water to full rolling boil for at least five to ten minutes and then let it cool. This is one of the most effective and most used methods of purifying water.
* Disinfectant Household Bleach: This method is also used commonly. Though it helps to kill many disease causing organisms, it is not absolutely affective. It is important for the bleach to contain chlorine in order for it to work.
* Iodine Treatment: It is another method that you can opt for apart from cleaning the water with chlorine. Though treating the water with iodine is less affective then chlorine, yet it is better then not treating the water at all. Whenever using iodine or a chlorine tablet make sure that you use the instructions first.
* Solar Water Treatment: Exposing drinking water to clear sunlight for at least six hours a day has proved to be a very affective disinfectant. You need to store the water in plastic Pet bottles. -
Age Classification of Diabetes Mellitus
Posted on September 26th, 2009 No commentsDiabetes produces a number of clinical pictures. The recommendations regarding definitions and classifications are as follows:
1) Recognized onset during growth between ages 0-14 years (Infantile or Childhood Diabetics). These patients usually present with severe initial symptoms of diabetes and rapidly become insulin-dependent.
2) Recognized onset between 15 and 24 years (Young Diabetics). These patients usually have an acute onset of symptoms of diabetes and most may be expected to become insulin-dependent.
3) Recognized onset between 25 and 64 years (Adult Diabetics). Growth onset, insulin-dependent diabetes may occur up to the age 22 or 23 years, but between 20 and 35 years, such cases merge into the adult-onset cases that are much less insulin-dependent. These patients begin with variable symptoms of diabetes and may or may not need insulin.
4) Recognized onset over 65 years of age (Elderly diabetics). These patients frequently present with symptoms of the complications of diabetes and can often be controlled without insulin.
It should be noted that all classifications refer to the age when the diabetes was recognized, not the current age of the patient.
Other types you must know
1) Asymptomatic or Unrecognized diabetes also known as pre-diabetes. It is termed asymptomatic or unrecognized diabetes because it doesn’t show or produce indications of a disease or other medical condition. Lots of people in the universe today are suffering from pre-diabetes and feel healthy because medical tests have not proven them diabetic. The symptoms of diabetes which are associated with pre-diabetes are the ones that are noticeable in case of type 2 diabetes.
Such symptoms as frequent urination and excessive thirst are the most common symptoms of type 2. Other symptoms of type 2 diabetes which may appear during pre diabetes are excessive appetite, unexplained weight loss or weight gain, weakness and fatigue.
Blurred vision can show up as a symptom of type 2 diabetes in some people. Wounds take a longer time to heal and there is low sensitivity in the limbs. Skin and gum infections are also common. Other symptoms of type 2 diabetes that show up are vaginal or bladder infections.
2) Juvenile: This term refers to cases of any age group who require insulin and who are prone to attacks of ketosis.
3) Brittle: It was recommended that this term be used as little as possible. It refers to juvenile cases that prove difficult to stabilize. Genuine brittle diabetics are very uncommon and the brittle state does not necessarily persist.
4) Insulin-resistant: This term should be reserved for patients requiring over 200 units insulin daily.
